By now, you’ve seen the above image of Beyonce looking luminescent in her simple one-piece, proving that you can be sexy on the beach without revealing too much skin. I’ve been known to wear a bikini in my time, but now prefer a flattering one-piece, partly for modesty’s sake, partly so I can swim laps comfortably, and thirdly so I don’t have to worry about what my stomach looks like when I’m aiming to relax on the beach or by the pool. Sure, you forego the tummy tan, but for me the comfort is worth the sacrifice.
It’s surprisingly difficult to find modest one-piece bathing suits for small sizes (I think retailers assume only plus size women desire them) so I’ve been wearing the same one-piece for years and it’s literally falling apart. The chlorine in the pool water kills the spandex so it’s not even stretchy anymore. I must buy a new one-piece as soon as possible and I’ve collected a few of my inspirations. Now to find the stores that sell them! You can look online for stylish ladies swimwear.

I like the red polka dot one, but that’s because it is very similar to my suit with the front panel/skirt. I love the retro style! Good luck in your search.

The red seems to be the favourite. A follower on Twitter also cast her vote for that one, saying she liked to retro look. I agree it looks like something Marilyn might wear.
Maybe I’m crazy, but it seems like finding flattering one-pieces are hard, no matter what the size! Which is silly, because they can be so, SO flattering…
You know what I find with one pieces? They are terribly unflattering on the butt because the elastic grabs you in such a way that it just accentuates your cellulite. I find the front can look great with the ruching, etc, but unless you wear one with a skirt that totally covers your butt or you are ultra-toned to perfection, the bottom is unflattering.
