I love the quotation on the perils of perfectionism which comes via the Facebook page of My Body Gallery.com, a website which invites women to punch in their measurements and see other women who share their dimensions. It’s a “you are not alone” philosophy that gives support to women inundated by images daily that don’t necessarily resemble them. And you might be pleasantly surprised by what you see!
The pursuit of perfection is futile whether it’s in your physique or any other aspect of your life. One reason perfection is a waste of time is that it doesn’t exist! Chasing after something impossible to achieve will drive you crazy. Excellence, on the other hand, is doing the best you can, working to the best of your ability and sharing your gifts with others. The pursuit of excellence means rising to the challenge, learning and growing. Excellence also radiates from within while “perfection” is more about outer appearances and impressing people rather than being true to yourself.
Have you ever suffered from perfectionism?
