Chanel’s hula hoop bag

October 5, 2012  |  designer, shopping

The Fashion Spot posted this picture of the new Chanel hula hoop bag, a fine example of useless design. Karl Lagerfeld argues his creative bag is very functional: he intends for you to stick it in the sand at the beach and hang your towel over it! No wonder the best fashion blogs agree that a sandy beach and Chanel price tags do not go together.

  1. I saw this earlier in the week, this is a classic example of something on the catwalk being purely built for the catwalk. No one seriously is going to buy that…are they?

  2. I saw this on the news and I think that the bag is ridiculous.

Karl is even more ridiculous for thinking that people should or would want to use this bag at the beach. This is coming from the same man that said that people shopping on sales racks should not be allowed to shop along side of people paying full price.

  3. Eww not only it is absolutely useless (which I could overlook) but it is extremely ugly! It doesn’t make sense at all. I guess we should take Karl as he comes cause sometimes he’s genius sometimes he’s a bit of a stuffed shirt!
